The National Immigration Administration announced the commencement of visa-free into China at 13 mainland cruise ports. The new policy applies to foreign tourist groups of two individuals or more arriving on a cruise ship for a trip organized and handled by a Chinese travel agency.

The 13 cities are Beihai, Dalian, Guangzhou, Haikou, Lianyungang, Qingdao, Tianjin, Sanya, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Wenzhou, Xiamen and Zhoushan. The tourist groups must continue their journey to the next scheduled port and depart from China by the same cruise ship within 15 days.

In related news, local Customs officials noted that the MSC Mediterraneo cruise ship departed on May 14 from Xiamen to Jeju Island in the Republic of Korea. More than 5,100 passengers transited the Xiamen International Cruise Center on that day, including more than 2,600 outbound travelers. Both figures set new highs since the resumption of international cruise operations last year.

Xiamen has welcomed 15 cruise ships and more than 57,000 passengers this year. More than 50 international cruises with over 70,000 passengers have passed through Xiamen since 2023.
